Your course overview
Please note that your practical training finishes each day at 4:00 PM. Post-training, we'll drive you back to your hotel.
Day 1
Arrival, equipment hire, and intro to the base slope
No lift access on Day 1. The training is done on flat ground and easy nursery slopes.
Our driver will pick you up from Srinagar Airport or your hotel in Gulmarg and take you to Kashmir Ski & Snowboarding School's equipment centre. We'll fit your equipment to your height, weight, boot size, and ability, per our technicians' guidance.
You'll then have an introductory theory session on equipment care, mountain safety guidelines, and slope etiquette. In the afternoon, attend your first practical lesson with your instructor at the nursery slope. Practice walking in ski boots and balancing on skis, and make your first attempts at gliding down the slope.
- Ski boots
- Skis and poles (carving)
- Certified safety helmet
- Anti-fog goggles
- Warm ski gloves
- Waterproof ski jacket and ski pants
Day 2
Skiing 101 and your first snowplow turns
Balance improves later on Day 2. You can then start using the beginner ski lifts.
At 9:45 AM sharp, we'll pick you up from your accommodation and take you to the ski slopes. At around 10:00 AM, you'll meet your assigned ski instructor, pick up your gear, and start your training session.
All these exercises will help you build a strong base for the days ahead. Your instructor will be with you throughout the day and will provide the right feedback so you can continue making steady, safe progress.

Day 3
Steeper slopes, speed control, and parallel skiing
On the third day, you'll ski on longer and steeper slopes and have the chance to apply the skills built over the past two days in more challenging conditions.
In the morning session, your instructor will teach you to make short snowplow turns, edge, correctly position your body, transfer weight, and control speed on steeper slopes. In the afternoon, try making parallel turns, learn to bring your skis closer together, and work on improving your turns and building better rhythm.
By the end of Day 3, you'll feel much more comfortable skiing on beginner slopes and should be able to control your speed well and take your first parallel turns.
