Day by day
Your course overview
Please note that your training begins at 10:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM daily. After each session, you will be taken back to your hotel.
Day 1
Arrival, equipment hire, and intro to skiing
Equipment setup, safety briefing, and flat-ground balance (no lifts needed today so you build confidence at your own pace).
Our driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Gulmarg or meet you at Srinagar Airport and drive you to the Kashmir Ski & Snowboarding School's own ski rental and equipment center. Our expert team will custom-fit gear to your height, weight, and skill level.
After fitting, attend an introductory briefing covering equipment controls, alpine safety, and slope etiquette. In the afternoon, head to the bunny slope area for your first practice on snow — walking in ski boots, maintaining an athletic stance, and getting your balance right before your first glides.
- Carving skis, ski boots, and poles
- Certified safety helmet and anti-fog goggles
- Waterproof ski jacket, ski pants, and warm gloves
Day 2
First turns, stopping, and snowplow basics
Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the ski slopes, where our team will help you choose and adjust your equipment and meet your ski instructor for the day's training session. The training will cover targeted exercises so you can develop a solid base.
Your ski instructor will provide feedback throughout the session, and you'll improve your skiing technique in a safe and supportive environment.
- Establishing a centered, balanced ski stance
- Gliding smoothly down gentle bunny slopes
- Mastering the snowplow wedge for reliable speed control and safe stopping
- Making your first gentle left and right turns with balance
- Building coordination on surface beginner lifts
Day 3
Speed control, steeper slopes, and snowplow turns
Review the learnings from Day 2 and advance to steeper nursery terrain.
In the morning session, learn to make long snowplow turns, maintain correct body posture and balance, and edge and distribute weight on the skis. The following drills will help you make smoother, steadier turns with greater confidence and control.
In the afternoon, you'll begin your first parallel skiing drills, bringing your skis closer together at the end of each turn to build rhythm, flow, and confidence for higher-mountain slopes the following day.
- Making long, controlled snowplow turns on steeper gradients
- Correcting body position, weight transfer, and posture through turns
- Regulating speed naturally without relying solely on heavy braking
Day 4
Gondola Phase 1 debut (3,050 meters)
On Day 4, you're ready to tackle one of Gulmarg's most iconic runs. You'll ride up the Phase 1 of the Gulmarg Gondola, and then with one of our expert ski instructors, you'll take on the stunning four-kilometre descent.
You'll take a run on longer, steeper, and more difficult terrain, and be able to practice everything learned over the previous days. Your ski instructor will accompany you on the descent, so you can adapt to the new training field with more composure and confidence.
Expect to complete 3 to 5 full runs during the day based on weather and lift operations.
- Linking smooth parallel turns on open alpine slopes
- Managing speed and rhythm over longer descents
- Correcting weight distribution and stance on varying snow gradients
- Line selection and mountain awareness on high-altitude runs
Day 5
Chairlift navigation and multi-run endurance
Day 5 builds stamina, fluid turn connections, and confidence on steeper, more varied groomed terrain.
By the end of Day 5, long alpine descents with parallel turns will feel natural and controlled to you.
- Navigating chairlift loading and unloading procedures safely
- Making continuous parallel turns over extended runs
- Fine-tuning edge control and dynamic weight shifts
- Building leg endurance over multiple high-altitude descents (covering up to 24 km in total)
Day 6
Intro to off-piste and powder technique
With groomed parallel skiing mastered, Day 6 introduces you to Kashmir's world-famous natural snow and off-piste terrain.
At 10:00 AM, you'll meet your instructor at the Gondola base station and head directly to the chairlift. The chairlift opens up more extreme and challenging terrain for you to get an unforgettable ski experience with natural snow, extended runs, and deeper powder.
Your instructor guides every line, giving you an unforgettable taste of off-piste skiing while keeping safety as the top priority.
- Stance adjustments for un-groomed, soft, and deep snow
- Navigating natural terrain variations, gentle moguls, and uneven snow
- Speed control and line selection off the main groomed tracks
- Absorbing terrain changes while maintaining balance and edge control
Day 7
Guided review, free skiing, and departure
Following breakfast, check out of your hotel. You have the full day to ski independently on the groomed slopes you mastered throughout the week.
- Morning: Enjoy free skiing at your pace using all provided gear.
- Photo and video memories: Our ground team will be on hand to capture high-resolution photos and video clips of your runs.
- Late afternoon: Return your equipment and get transferred straight to Srinagar Airport or your next destination in Srinagar.
Before you arrive
How to physically prepare
- Skiing seven days in a row engages your core, quads, and stabiliser muscles. We recommend starting light cardio, leg exercises (squats, wall sits, lunges), and leg stretches 2 to 3 weeks before arrival to prevent early fatigue and sore muscles on the slopes.
